System Overload due to DDoS attack

Few days back Kixeye was attacked by Arabics using DDoS method and we already discussed about that in this post. Even though Kixeye denied it, as their kixeye.com website also got offline during that time and it reflected there was something bigger than just an issue.

During the event lots of players faced this system overload problem but Kixeye still don't have a solution. Unofficial sources reveals some people who got banned are trying to revenge from Kixeye during the event using DDoS. We kindly asking from those people, please don't do it as those guys not hurting to Kixeye but to those who spend lots of money for this game.

Kixeye website Hacked, DDoS attack !

Few days back, Arab players shared this kind of messages on facebook.

And these two videos.

DDOS attack kixeye 2014
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LKso6s2LflE

From unknown sources we have been informed this is a DDoS attack. But finally Kixeye managed to put the maintenance screen on the game window. Game will be back once it has been fixed.

You don't have to worry about this as kixeye try to fix this as soon as possible.

Please remember, don't refresh your game continuously. If you do, "most intelligent" Kixeye AI system will identify you also as a DDoS attacker and perhaps your account might be suspended and your IP will be blocked.

Please inform to your friends, this will help them to save their game accounts.

Elite Hellstrom and Schematic in Action

Here are the Prizes of Operation Hellstrom 2

Banned without Cheting? Here is how...

We all know cheaters can edit their units such as infantry . In that way they can replace basic unit with more advanced unit, increase the DPS , Range, Speed, change upgrading time etc.

Not only that cheaters also could edit the attack log. !!!

Then the problem arise.

For example imagine "Player A" is a cheater. He has an enemy called "Player B" and want to revenge from him.

"Player A" wait "Player B" to attack him. After that "Player A" will edit the attack log and then report "Player B" to Kixeye with the proofs of edited Attack log.

And because Kixeye receive the attack log as a proof, and "Player A" AKA the real cheater make it obvious that "Player B" is the cheater. Kixeye will suspended his account., and "Player A" win!

As Kixeye can't deeply check ten thousands of reports per day, Kixeye will suspend whenever they receive valid proof of cheating. Most of times Kixeye use their automated system to ban cheaters, if the attack log is the proof.

In our example, "Player A" took advantage of kixeye's lazy action of banning cheaters with "minimum valid proof".

Remember, if you attack to cheaters, they simply edit the attack log, and next day you will surely get suspended and see this message.

See guys, I hope Kixeye will do an investigation. It is happening in all sectors and this is why most of players are complaining in public that they were banned even they didn't use any cheats.

Solution for Flash Player Crashing

If you face much higher rate of Flash Player crashing after update your flash player, it is better to revert for an earlier version. Here how to do it.

To make this easier:

ADDITIONAL STUFF FOR GOOGLE CHROME USERS ONLY:

Google Chrome users may experience an additional issue not directly related to the Flash 12.0 problem. Chrome default behavior installs two different versions of Flash. This causes dual version Flash conflicts in game performance. To resolve that problem, follow these steps.

Type this into a browser window.
chrome://plugins/

Check for versions of flash installed on the browser. You should find two sections with location names that end in the following:
Pepperflash:
PepperFlash\pepflashplayer.dll
Regular Flash:
Flash\NPSWF32_11_9_900_170.dll

Disable one of the two. Make sure the version you leave enabled is 11.9. If necessary, uninstall 12.0 and install 11.9 manually.

If your full screen comms problem returns it is probably because Chrome auto-installed Flash 12.0 again. Do another manual reversion if necessary.

Chrome occasionally re enables both versions of Flash on its own so it's good to check plugins from time to time.

OTHER STUFF ABOUT FLASH AND GAME PERFORMANCE:

Flash needs a little bit of under the hood maintenance to get the most out of War Commander. Namely, clearing the Flash cache (which is separate from browser cache) and setting Flash local storage.

This section of instructions covers Windows 7. If you play on a different operating system your commands may be different.

SETTING FLASH LOCAL STORAGE

Rechecking Flash local storage is the first troubleshooting I do whenever the combat server starts to act goofy. No joke: this is a frequent source of problems. Fortunately the check and the fix take just seconds to run.

1. Right click on the game screen. That gets this popup.

2. Select "Settings" then click the folder icon. That opens this dialog.

The default setting for Flash local storage is 100 KB. You can change that manually according to the specs of your computer. I like to do this.

Two things to be aware of as you move the slider:
(a) Flash will restore the 100 KB default on its own. Adobe offers no way in the user interface to prevent this from returning to default, and it happens often. As often as five times in one day, in my experience.
(b) War Commander will start to chew up large amounts of memory when Flash local storage is unlimited. Eventually this will cause the game to crash unless you refresh periodically. To gauge when a refresh is needed open Task Manager and check the memory usage from time to time.

CLEARING FLASH CACHE

This is separate and different from browser cache. Both caches need clearing on a regular basis for optimum game performance. I like to clear caches on the first day of every attack, and occasionally as needed when other problems occur.

1. Right click on the game screen. That gets this popup again.

2. Select Global Settings. That brings up this dialog.

Delete All clears this data, which is all that most people need. You can choose the site by site option if you really want but I never do.

3. Open up Global Settings again and this time select the Advanced tab.

Two things of note here: one is the Delete All button, which clears Flash cache across all your browsers. The other is the Updates selection. As a Chrome user who doesn't want to be bothered by 12.0 reinstalling itself, I've selected the "Notify me" option.

Time Chart of Online Players

Time chart of common locations that people play war commander from so you all can see how the times line up. If you click on this link you can make your own with locations that are important to you.

This is a great tool when managing a team that has global membership to find the best times to coordinate attacks and can be useful to anyone just to see when their enemies will likely be online and offline.

If you want to make a custom one, click on that link and follow the instructions. There are a lot of other really good tools to help deal with global time zone logistics there too.
